Connect Azure Boards Using a Personal Access Token

If you are using Azure Repos as your project management tool, you will need to create a personal access token in order to connect to LinearB.

Create a personal access token in Azure Boards

Instructions on how to do this in Azure DevOps can be found here: Use personal access tokens

You must be organization Owners or Project Collection Administrator in order to create a PAT with the correct permissions.

Connecting Azure Boards for project management support

From your Azure Boards page, click on your user settings in the top right corner, select Personal access tokens, and click on the +New Token button.

Enable the following permissions.

  • Projects and Teams: Read
  • Team Dashboard: Read
  • User Profile: Read
  • Work Items: Read

Add your Azure Boards token to LinearB

Once generated, paste your personal access token into LinearB's connect page. If you have not yet connected a Git account, you will be directed to this page upon logging in. If you have already connected a Git account, click on the gear icon in the top right of your page, select Company Settings, click on the Project Management tab, and click the Connect button on the Azure Boards Icon.

Paste in your token and click Connect and LinearB will begin processing your data!
