Effectively managing users in LinearB ensures the right team members have appropriate access to dashboards, reports, and settings.

Summary
  • Invite users from Settings → Company Settings → Users.
  • If SSO is enabled, invitations may be managed outside LinearB.
  • Only Admins can invite users or change roles and team access.
  • Users can be removed from LinearB, unless removal is controlled by your SSO provider.

Inviting a user to LinearB

Invite additional users to your LinearB account as follows:

  1. In the LinearB side menu, click Settings to open Company Settings.
  2. Select the Users tab.
  3. Click Invite Users.
  4. In the Invite User form, enter:
    1. Name
    2. Email address
    3. Role (Admin, Editor, or Viewer)
    4. For Viewer or Editor roles, select the User Teams the user can access.
  5. Click Send Invitation.

If the Invite button is disabled

Your organization may be using Single Sign-On (SSO). In this case:

  • New users must be added through your SSO provider or internal IT process.
  • If you need access, contact your SSO administrator.

Managing pending invitations

  • After you send an invitation, the user appears as Pending until they accept.
  • After the user logs in, their status updates to show the date they joined LinearB.
  • If needed, you can resend the invitation, which generates a new email invitation.

Editing user permissions

Only Admins can edit permissions for other users.

  1. In the LinearB side menu, click Settings to open Company Settings.
  2. Select the Users tab.
  3. Find the user you want to update.
  4. Click the three-dots next to the username and select Edit Permissions.
  5. Select a new role: Admin, Editor, or Viewer.
  6. For Editor or Viewer roles, select which teams the user can access.
  7. Click Save.

Permission levels and editing rights

  • Admins: Can invite users and edit permissions for any user (including other Admins).
  • Editors: Cannot invite users or edit user permissions.
  • Viewers: Cannot invite users or edit user permissions.

Removing a user from LinearB
If your organization uses Single Sign-On (SSO), users cannot be deleted directly in LinearB. Instead, remove the user in your SSO provider.

To delete a user in LinearB (non-SSO environments):

  1. In the LinearB side menu, click Settings to open Company Settings.
  2. Select the Users tab.
  3. Find the user you want to remove.
  4. Click the three-dots next to their username and select Delete User.
  5. Confirm the deletion. The user loses access immediately.
