LinearB integrates with Cursor to track adoption, request activity, and acceptance metrics for conversational coding. This integration helps you understand how developers use Cursor’s AI capabilities, including code suggestions, chat requests, composer usage, and agents.

Company admins configure Cursor in Settings → Company Settings → AI Tools → Integrations → Cursor by providing a Cursor Admin API key with the admin:read scope. Once connected, Cursor usage data appears in AI Analytics.

Cursor integration in LinearB AI Tools
Cursor usage is surfaced in AI Analytics under AI Tools Usage and contributes to broader AI Adoption signals. Chatbots, CI bots, and automated system accounts are excluded from AI metrics.

Summary
  • Generate a Cursor Admin API key with the admin:read scope.
  • Paste the key in Settings → Company Settings → AI Tools → Integrations → Cursor.
  • Confirm the integration status shows Connected.
  • Review Cursor metrics in AI Analytics.

Overview

Cursor metrics allow you to:

  • Track active and engaged users across teams.
  • Measure AI-assisted requests, including chat, agent, and composer activity.
  • Monitor code suggestions generated by Cursor and how many are accepted.
  • Evaluate Cursor’s overall contribution to the codebase.

This data feeds directly into the AI Tools Usage and AI Adoption panels in AI Analytics.

Historical data & backfill

When Cursor is first connected, LinearB backfills up to 30 days of historical usage data. Activity that occurred before this window will not appear in AI Analytics.

After the initial sync, usage data is updated daily.

Before you begin
  • You must be a Company Admin in LinearB to configure AI Tools.
  • In Cursor, only users with an admin or unpaid admin role can generate API keys for usage data.
Cursor provides multiple API key types. For LinearB, generate a Cursor Admin API key with the admin:read scope. User API keys and Agent API keys are not supported and will cause authentication errors.
• Treat the API key like a password and keep it secure.
• Copy the key immediately after creation. Cursor will not display it again.

Step 1 – Generate a Cursor Admin API key
  1. Open Cursor and go to Account Settings.
  2. Open Settings → Advanced → API Keys.
  3. Create an Admin API key with the admin:read scope only.
  4. Do not use a User API key or Agent API key. These key types do not provide the usage data required by LinearB.
  5. Click Create New API Key.
  6. Name the key, for example, LinearB Usage Integration.
  7. Copy the generated key and store it securely.

Step 2 – Connect Cursor in LinearB
  1. In LinearB, go to Settings → Company Settings → AI Tools → Integrations → Cursor.
  2. Paste the key into the Token field.
  3. Save the connection.
  4. Verify that the integration status shows Connected.
If you need to restore a disconnected integration, see Reauthorizing Cursor .

Metrics available in AI Analytics

Once connected, the following Cursor metrics can appear in AI Analytics:

  • Active Users — Average number of developers using Cursor per day.
  • Engaged Users — Developers actively accepting AI suggestions per day.
  • Code Tabs Suggested — Average number of AI-generated code blocks suggested per day.
  • Code Tabs Accepted — Average number of suggested code blocks accepted per day.
  • Code Acceptances — Average number of accepted AI completions per day.
  • Code Lines Accepted — Number of AI-suggested lines accepted per day.
  • Agent Requests — Average number of AI agent requests per day.
  • Composer Requests — Average number of AI-assisted composer requests per day.
  • Chat Requests — Average number of chat-based AI requests per day.
  • CMDK Requests — Average number of Cursor CMDK requests per day.

Verify Cursor data in AI Analytics

After you connect Cursor, verify that its data appears in:

  • AI Tools Usage — Adoption trends, request types, and code acceptance metrics.
  • AI Adoption — Cursor contributions alongside other supported AI tools.

Reauthorizing Cursor

If the Cursor integration becomes Disconnected, for example because the API key expired or was revoked, replace the key with a new Cursor Admin API key.

  1. Go to Settings → Company Settings → AI Tools → Integrations → Cursor.
  2. In Cursor, generate a new Admin API key with the admin:read scope.
  3. Copy the new key and paste it into the Token field in LinearB.
  4. Reauthorize or save the integration.
  5. Verify that the status shows Connected.
Existing Cursor connections created with broader Admin API key permissions continue to work and do not require reauthorization. When generating a new or replacement key, use the admin:read scope only.

Troubleshooting

If Cursor data does not appear in AI Analytics:

  • Confirm the API key is valid and has not expired or been revoked.
  • Confirm that you generated a Cursor Admin API key with the admin:read scope.
  • Confirm that you did not use a User API key or Agent API key.
  • Ensure recent Cursor activity exists. Usage data may take time to populate.
  • Verify that AI Services are enabled for your organization.
  • If the integration status shows Disconnected, enter a valid token and reauthorize the connection.

If you still cannot see Cursor data after setup, contact support@linearb.io or visit the LinearB Help Center .
