Connecting LinearB to Jira Cloud Using OAuth 2.0
Connect LinearB to Jira Cloud using OAuth 2.0, approve permissions in Jira, and wait for validation to finish. Use Re-authorize if the connection fails or if you need to switch users.
LinearB supports a secure OAuth 2.0 integration with Jira Cloud. This connection allows LinearB to read and correlate project data, boards, issues, and incidents directly from your Jira environment.
Follow the steps below to connect Jira Cloud to LinearB.

Prerequisites
Before connecting, ensure the Jira user who performs the authorization has:
- Read and write permissions to all relevant Jira projects.
- Permission to authorize third-party applications in Jira Cloud.
If the user does not have adequate permissions, the connection may fail and require re-authorization.

Connect Jira Cloud to LinearB
- Navigate to Settings > Project Management > Projects.
- Choose Jira as the management tool. Click Connect.

- Under Connect Jira, choose Jira Cloud. This ensures LinearB uses the OAuth 2.0 Jira Cloud authorization flow.
- Click Connect to Jira to begin the authorization process. You’ll be redirected to Jira Cloud.

- Jira will prompt you to:
- Log in (if you’re not already)
- Review the permissions LinearB is requesting
- Click Allow to grant access. The Jira user must have sufficient permissions (read + write) for all relevant projects.
Insufficient permissions may cause the authorization to fail.
- After approval, Jira redirects you back to LinearB automatically.
- Wait for LinearB to perform several validation checks:
- Authorization Code
- Token Exchange
- Access Check
- Permissions
The process may take a few minutes.
- Once all validations pass, click Continue to activate the integration.
LinearB will begin syncing data from your Jira Cloud environment, enabling full visibility into project work, boards, issues, and incidents.

Re-authorization and Troubleshooting
Re-authorize the Jira Connection
If the initial authorization fails, or if you need to connect using a different Jira user, you can click Reauthorize from the Jira connection panel.

Reasons for failure may include:
- The Jira user does not have required permissions
- Multiple Jira sites detected
- Incorrect credentials
- The wrong Jira Cloud account was selected

Even after a successful initial authentication, the reauthorize option remains available so you can switch to a different Jira user at any time.
If re-authorization fails, the Jira integration remains in a failed state until corrected.
