Manage AI tool integrations

Connect, manage, disconnect, and troubleshoot AI tool integrations, and learn what data each provider makes available in LinearB.

Overview

LinearB’s AI tool integrations give Company Admins one place to connect and manage external AI coding tools.

Each connector collects usage data from its provider and makes the supported metrics available in LinearB. Available data depends on the selected provider and connection type.

You must be a Company Admin in LinearB to add, disconnect, or reconnect an AI tool integration.

Open AI Tool Integrations

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Open Company Settings.
  3. Select AI Tools.
  4. Select Integrations.

The connector catalog displays your connected and disconnected integrations. Select a connector to view its connection type, status, configuration details, and available actions.

Adoption and accepted-lines data appears in AI Analytics.

Model, token, and estimated-consumption data is available through Metrics Builder. Predefined consumption queries are available, and results can be grouped by supported dimensions such as model, team, repository, or day.

Estimated consumption is not a billing total. LinearB calculates consumption using reported tokens and model pricing. Vendor plans, discounts, credits, negotiated pricing, and pricing changes can cause the estimate to differ from the provider’s invoice.

Add an AI Tool Integration

LinearB uses the same three-step connection flow for every supported provider.

  1. From Settings → Company Settings → AI Tools → Integrations, click Add New.
  2. Under Select AI provider, select the provider and click Continue.
  3. Under Connection type, select the connection method and click Continue.
  4. Under Main Settings, enter the requested credentials and configuration.
  5. Follow any provider-specific instructions displayed in LinearB.
  6. Complete the connection using the action displayed for that provider.

LinearB validates the submitted configuration. When validation succeeds, the integration appears in the Connected list.

Credentials and setup requirements vary by provider. Follow the applicable configuration guide before starting the connection.

Understand Connection Status

Connected

LinearB successfully validated the configuration and can collect data from the provider.

Connection Error

LinearB could not validate or use part of the connector configuration. Select the connector to view the error, then verify the provider credentials, permissions, and configuration.

Disconnected

LinearB is no longer collecting new data through the connector. Previously collected data is preserved.

Disconnect an Integration

  1. Open Settings → Company Settings → AI Tools → Integrations.
  2. Select the integration in the Connected list.
  3. Click Disconnect.
  4. Review the confirmation message.
  5. Click Disconnect to confirm.

LinearB stops collecting new data and moves the connector to the Disconnected list. Previously collected data is preserved.

Reconnect an Integration

  1. Open Settings → Company Settings → AI Tools → Integrations.
  2. Select Disconnected.
  3. Select the integration you want to restore.
  4. Review its saved configuration.
  5. Click Reconnect.
  6. Click Reconnect in the confirmation dialog.

LinearB validates the saved configuration and resumes collecting new data when the connection succeeds.

If validation fails, verify that the saved credentials, permissions, and provider resources are still valid.

Replace an Existing Provider Connection

Only one connection can be active for a provider. For example, you cannot keep two Claude Code connection types active at the same time.

If you add or reconnect a connection while another connection for that provider is active, LinearB displays a confirmation message.

  1. Review which active connection will be replaced.
  2. Click Yes, switch integrations to continue.

LinearB deactivates the existing connection and activates the selected one. Previously collected data is preserved.

Replacing a connection changes how LinearB collects new provider data. It does not delete data that was collected previously.

Claude Code OpenTelemetry Data

Claude Code OpenTelemetry begins sending data after OpenTelemetry is enabled and the generated managed settings are deployed to your developers.

Claude Code OpenTelemetry does not provide historical backfill. Data collection begins when OpenTelemetry is enabled.

For setup and token-management instructions, see Connect Claude Code using OpenTelemetry.

Troubleshooting

The Integration Shows a Connection Error

  • Verify that the credential or token is still valid.
  • Confirm that it has the permissions required by the provider.
  • Verify organization, account, repository, AWS, and region settings as applicable.
  • Open the provider-specific configuration article for additional validation steps.

The Integration Is Connected but No Data Appears

  • Confirm that users are actively using the connected AI tool.
  • Verify that the configured organizations, accounts, or resources cover the expected users.
  • Allow time for the provider to produce and make usage data available.
  • For OpenTelemetry, confirm that the managed settings were deployed and approved.

A Connector Was Replaced Unexpectedly

Only one connection can be active for a provider. Adding or reconnecting another connection for that provider deactivates the previously active connection.

Open the Disconnected list to find the previous connection. You can reconnect it, but doing so replaces the provider’s currently active connection.
