LinearB Data Validation Checklist

Validate your LinearB setup with this checklist to ensure accurate metrics, working integrations, and clean data across your dashboards. Completing this step ensures your organization is ready for reliable reporting, automation, and insights.

Use this checklist after initial setup to ensure your metrics, integrations, and automation tools (such as WorkerB and gitStream) are reporting correctly. Completing data validation ensures your dashboards and insights are accurate, setting your teams up for success.

Data Validation Checklist

Confirm Global Metrics

  • Verify that global metrics calculations are configured correctly in Settings > Metrics.
  • Ensure company-wide DORA and efficiency benchmarks are aligned with organizational goals.

Validate DORA Metrics Visibility

  • Confirm that DORA metrics are set up and visible on the relevant dashboards.
  • Review setup under Metrics > Delivery Metrics tab.

Confirm Release Metrics

  • Ensure that release tracking is active and metrics are populating as expected.
  • Validate deployment frequencies and lead times if applicable.

Validate Branching Strategy

  • Confirm that your branching strategy is implemented correctly.
  • Verify that main branches, feature branches, and release branches are properly excluded or included as needed.

Confirm WorkerB Data Accuracy

  • Ensure WorkerB is sending data correctly from Slack or MS Teams.
  • Test personal notifications, team alerts, and PR review reminders.
  • Validate Slack/MS Teams integration settings.

Confirm gitStream Rules Functionality

  • Confirm gitStream rules are active and working.
  • Validate automation triggers such as estimated review time labels or PR routing rules.

Confirm Correct Metrics Display for gitStream

  • Validate that gitStream contributions are correctly reflected in cycle time, pickup time, and review depth metrics.
  • Review the Engineering Metrics dashboard and inspect reported values.

Final Validation for Training

  • Review all team dashboards and ensure that active metrics match expected results.
  • Validate that all data is reliable and accurate before scheduling leadership or team training sessions.
If any metric appears incomplete or inaccurate after validation, check your team settings, project management integration scopes, and git provider connections. Most data issues stem from incorrect team mappings or missing branch exclusions.
